United States federal health officials have confirmed that a patient being treated at a Dallas hospital has tested positive for Ebola.
The case announced yesterday by the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) is the first Ebola case diagnosed in the US. Other cases were diagnosed in West Africa and flown back to the US for treatment.
Officials at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital said the unidentified patient is being kept in isolation. Presbyterian Hospital officials said they're following CDC recommendations to keep doctors, staff and patients safe.
The patient was said to have arrived the US from Liberia on September 20 but was not sick when the person arrived.
According to CNN, the patient later fell ill and was admitted in the hospital where he/she was tested and results came back positive for the disease.
