Shocking Revelation! A study by Economists at Emory University U.S.A. has revealed that the higher the costs of weddings, the greater the likelihood of your marriage ending in a divorce. The so-called ostentatious "dream weddings" do not necessarily mean more durable marriages, the study suggests. Expensive weddings make the wedding industry very happy, but sadly, the same may not be true for couples who had expensive weddings, says the study. The wedding industry makes an estimated $50 billion dollars annually. mirror.co.uk reports
the scientist who go on to give example of the marraigle that are prone to divorce:
Men who spent between $500 and $2,000 on a wedding ring (£310 to £1250) were 1.3 times less likely to get divorced than those who spent $2,000 to $4,000 (£1250 to £2500), according to in the US.
women
whose wedding costs exceeded $20,000 (£12,500) were 3.5 times more likely to
end up divorced than those who spent $5,000 to $10,000 (£3100 - £6200).
In particular, as compared with
spending between $5,000 and $10,000 on the wedding, spending less than $1,000
(£620) is associated with half the hazard of divorce in the sample of men.
