I checked the price of vegetable oils today and was shocked that red oil is at #250 per 75 Cl (not up to a liter) and groundnut oil is #220 per 75 Cl and i checked also the price of crude oil now, then i said, Nigeria has misplaced some priorities.
Standard oil barrel holds 42 gallons or approximately 159 liters of crude oil, which is now at $50/barrel.
A dollar equals #180, now when times by 50 you will get #9000, #9000 is
what Nigeria makes in each barrel they lifted and when you divide this
with the number of liters of oil involved(159), you will be surprise is
at #57 per liter but a 75 Cl of vegetable oils is sold at the flat rate
of #200, multiply the #200 by the 159 liters that makes up a barrel, you
will get #31800 and when you add up the remaining 25 Cl's that will
make it up to a Liter, the revenue must be at #42,000 per barrel of
vegetable oil as against #9000 we make from a barrel of crude oil. See more....
This is the reason i said Nigeria has misplaced a great priority, Malaysia that picked this fruits from here are doing great, living large, these are natural oil unlike many of these imported oil that has many chemicals inside it which is capable of disorganizing the body system and causes cancer, Our people left their economic basin for ephemeral gifts and forget that ihe ana acho na uko elu di na uko ala (what you are searching in the up is down with you). we can still be great again only if we take it as a duty that each state within the geographical region known for palm oil for economy,e.g: south east and south south , put in place at least 25,000,000 seeds for palm plantation. or else we all should wait until liter of oil is less than a sachet of pure water because as of now am talking #57 cannot buy 100 Cl (1L) of table water!
Note: I am very much aware that the consumption of crude oil and vegetable oil are not the same but we can make great steps with it, especially when we use/sale the natural oil at a good price/s and chase out these chemicals at the market they called vegetable oil and take over, the demand will be much, the employment it will create at the oil mill should also not be neglected.
