Chinedum Orji, The first son of Abia State governor, yesterday won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, house of assembly ticket for Umuahia Central state constituency.
The primary was held at School Road Primary School, Umuahia, the state capital.
The returning officer, Chief Anayo Nwakodo, said Orji polled 11 out of the 12 total votes cast. One vote was voided.
His challengers, Adighibe Maduakolam, and George Uwalaka had no vote.
Nwakodo explained that each of the three political wards was represented by three delegates, while four delegates, including governor Theodore Orji were automatic delegates.
Speaking after casting his vote, Governor Theodore Orji described the exercise as very peaceful. He commended members of the party for their conduct.
On his part, Chinedum Orji thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him, promising to carry everyone, including his rivals, along.
A contestant, Uwalaka said he was satisfied with the conduct of the exercise, which according to him was free and fair.
