Postponement Of Elections In Nigeria, American Government Release Statement Says They Are Deeply Disappointed

The United States is deeply disappointed by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February 14.

Political interference with the Independent National Electoral Commission is unacceptable, and it is critical that the government not use security concerns as a pretext for impeding the democratic process.

CSOs Call For Resignation Of Security Chiefs Over Election Postponement

                                         

The  Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (Situation Room) has called on the security chiefs in the country to resign their appointments immediately over their inability to provide security for millions of Nigerians. 

According to a statement from Agianpe Ashang of the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), said that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, at a meeting with 12 national commissioners and other stakeholders conveyed that he had received a letter from the security services advising that he postponed the general elections on the grounds that the security agencies were engaged in a renewed battle against insurgency in the North-East that would require their full concentration.

According to Jega in the letter, the military was demanding a rescheduling of elections by at least six weeks.

Ladies and Gentlemen, We invited you here today to make known the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the timetable for the 2015 general elections. Let me state from the outset that the Commission’s position was reached after carefully weighing the suggestions from briefings held with different stakeholders in the electoral process. 

The conduct of elections in a country like Nigeria is invariably a collective venture that involves not just the Election Management Body (EMB), but also a diverse range of stakeholders, notably security agencies, political parties and their candidates, voters, as well as interest groups, such as the civil society organizations and the media.To guarantee successful conduct of elections, there are things that are wholly the responsibility of the EMB. 17 parties demand poll shift at meeting with INEC

Seventeen out of the 28 registered political parties have asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to shift the conduct of the general elections scheduled for February 14 and 28.

The parties canvassed the position at a consultative meeting with INEC, which ended a few hours ago at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

INEC had on Friday announced that it would hold consultative meetings with all relevant bodies, including the political parties, civil society organisations and the resident electoral commissioners.

A source at the meeting told PREMIUM TIMES that leaders of 12 others, including the leading opposition party, All Progressives Congress, stoutly opposed their colleagues who were demanding the shift of the election.

We Will Take To The Streets If INEC Shifts Election, Says Amaechi

         

THE director general of Buhari campaign organization and Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, has threatened mass action if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) decides today to shift this month’s election.

Amaechi, who said monumental change is about to happen in Nigeria because the vast majority of Nigerians yearn for it, insisted that the presidential election must hold on February 14 because Nigerians are charged and poised to vote on that day for an inevitable change.

He stated this during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign rally at Isiokpo, the headquarters of his Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Woman Vomits Live Snake During Deliverance

There was a miraculous experience yesterday at the Sons Manifestation Ministries, located at Magami area of Jalingo, when a 32-year-old woman, Mrs Grace Benjamin vomited a live python snake and other items during deliverance in the church.

Mrs Grace, who confessed after her deliverance, told the church congregation that she has been a member of the marine kingdom for over 15 years.

Gen Buhari Declines Presidential debate organized Channels TV, Arise TV and NPAN

                   

APC Presidential candidate Gen. Buhari has declined the invitation to attend a presidential debate organized by Channels TV in conjunction with the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN and Arise TV, which was supposed to hold tomorrow February 3rd.

Speaking on Channels TV this morning, the APC Director of strategy, Dele Alake, said Buhari will not be attending the debate because their party believes some media organizations have been compromised. He said that they can not vouch for the independence of some organizers of the debate but refused to he disclose those that he claims have been compromised.

Despite the prophecies, predic­tions, social media permuta­tions and other forms of dia­lectics, there are some hard facts that must be considered in deter­mining who carries the day when Nige­rians choose their President on Febru­ary 14, 2015. And there are compelling reasons to do so.

Let me quickly state, however, that those factors that influenced the choice of candidates in the past elections will be ex­pectedly quite different this time around. Nigerian Army arrest officers for loosing commands to Boko Haram

                

The Nigerian Army high command has ordered the arrest of its commander of the Barga axis of its fighting force that caved into the hands of Boko Haram recently.

The officer Brigadier General Ransome Kuti who has been in the military hospital recuperating from his wound was flown to Abuja along side other senior officers to answer for his humiliating loss of Barga town to the insurgents recently.

The other officers flown with him to face the wrath of the high command in what military sources described as military offenses were the commander of Mongonu another Brigadier General who was also recuperating at the military hospital.

Oh dear...., Buhari Suppoters see what Etcetera has to tell you

Stupid is a word that has a broad range of applications, but it generally means a person lacks rudimentary intelligence or the ability to reason. It can also imply a congenital lack of capacity for reasoning, or a permanent state of daze or slow-mindedness. However one defines or applies the word stupid, you can hardly think of the word without directly relating it to the utterances of some Buhari’s supporters; especially the supposedly literate ones.

Over the past week, it became apparent that the level of stupidity inherent in those inclined to support certain politicians at all cost is beyond comprehension. In fact, it is frightening that so many Nigerians of voting age lack the fundamental reasoning ability of a second-grader and are even less-informed about basic facts than a kindergarten.

I have heard some of the most bizarre ideas peddled by some Buhari’s supporters and I am really concerned about the future of this country. I have heard troubling statements like: “It really doesn’t matter if Buhari is qualified or not, he must be the next president and we’ll vote for him. Even if he presents a NEPA bill as certificate, we don’t care, we will vote for him. Are these people for real?
